What Is Squalane and Why Is It in Our Oils?

If you’ve read our ingredient list you’ve noticed squalane. Here’s why it earns its place in every bottle.
Squalane is a lightweight, stable oil derived most commonly from sugarcane or olives (ours is plant-derived). It’s a hydrogenated, shelf-stable version of squalene — a compound your skin actually produces naturally as part of its own sebum. Because of this biological familiarity, squalane is exceptionally well-tolerated by virtually all skin types.
What makes squalane stand out in a body oil formula is its combination of properties. It’s deeply moisturizing but completely non-greasy. It absorbs almost instantly, leaving skin soft and smooth without any heavy or oily residue. It’s non-comedogenic, meaning it won’t clog pores. And it’s remarkably stable — it doesn’t oxidize quickly, which contributes to a longer shelf life for the overall formula.
For fragrance formulation specifically, squalane is valuable because it blends beautifully with fragrance molecules and helps anchor them to skin, contributing to longer wear time without altering the scent character.
In our body oil base, squalane works alongside jojoba, sweet almond, argan, and other carriers to create a formula that absorbs quickly, feels luxurious, and performs beautifully as both a skincare product and a fragrance vehicle.
It’s one of those ingredients that earns its place every single time.
